“I think, with never-ending gratitude, that the young women of today do not and can never know at what price their right to free speech and to speak at all in public has been earned.” – Lucy Stone
Lucy Stone was a prominent 19th century U.S. suffragist, and a vocal advocate and organizer promoting rights for women. She never got to vote but she is one of my suffragette heroes. Vote for Lucy and vote for yourself this week.
I believe in voting and never miss an election. This week my Muse is dedicated to the importance of going out to vote.
In the words of Oprah, “So whatever you do, please don’t stay home on Election Day. Whether your polling place is a school, a fire station, or a post office, whether you pull a lever, press a button, or check a box with a pencil, do the patriotic thing, the American thing. Choose wisely. Choose.” Read Oprah’s full plea to vote.
