PRESS RELEASE
Wild River Founders Honored as Difference Makers in the Delaware River Community
September 25, 2016

LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. – Sept. 26, 2016 – On Sept. 21, 2016, 7PM-10PM, Mountaintop Marketing awarded Kimberly Nagy and Joy E. Stocke of Wild River Review as #DifferenceMakers along with Maya von Rossum of the Delaware Riverkeeper Network, at the first of a three-part dinner series at The Inn Of The Hawke (Sept. 21, Oct. 19, Nov. 16). The theme of the evening centered on women who dared to be different, who followed their dreams against the odds and who left their mark on history while honoring modern-day women #DifferenceMakers.
Owner of Mountaintop Marketing, Marianne Romano began the evening with a dedication to her grandmother. “Like many difference makers, she had a lot of obstacles to overcome. She was orphaned as a child. She only had a 7th grade education and was married at the age of 15 and pregnant with the 1st of 11 children at 16. She always encouraged me to think outside the box and to question everything. She was a free spirit and the most intelligent and creative person I’ve ever known,” reflected Romano. “My grandmother Edna Caine Bastedo had an insatiable appetite to learn and grow. Her entrepreneurial spirit was something I admired long before I understood it. She was my #DifferenceMaker…the one that inspired me to follow my heart and form my new business, Mountaintop Marketing. I dedicate this series to you, Gram.”
“It’s an honor for Wild River Consulting and Publishing to be named alongside Maya von Rossum of the Delaware Riverkeeper who has worked tirelessly to preserve the river we love,” said Nagy. “Wild River, named for the Delaware, is a metaphorical river of stories that connects us to stories at home and around the world.”
“We specialize at getting to the heart of our clients messaging and helping them reach their audience–through crafted writing, editing and measured storytelling. With a stable of award-winning books, we also publish Wild River Review, an online magazine featuring underreported perspectives with over 15,000 international followers. We appreciate dynamic voices like Marianne, who has an incredible ability to connect likeminded businesses, not only for success, which we all want and strive for, but for the greater good.” Find out more about Wild River Consulting & Publishing: http://www.wildriverconsultingandpublishing.com
“Our beautiful Delaware River has a rich and wonderful place in our history. Working to help protect it every day is a true honor. And being recognized as a person who was making a difference from such an auspicious organization who considers the impact of leaders in our community throughout history meant the world to me,” said Maya K. van Rossum who has served as the Delaware Riverkeeper and leader for the Delaware Riverkeeper Network since 1994. The role of the Delaware Riverkeeper is to give the Delaware River, and the communities that depend upon it and appreciate it, a voice at every decision making table that could provide help or do harm. The Delaware Riverkeeper Network that van Rossum leads is the only citizen action organization that works the entire length and breadth of the Delaware River and its watershed, speaking and working for both its protection and its restoration. Delaware Riverkeeper Network has its main office in Bristol, PA and can be found on the web at www.delawareriverkeeper.org. van Rossum’s blog can be found at http://www.delawareriverkeeper.org/blog/
The event featured delicious period food and drink, costume dress, live period music, honoring of local #DifferenceMakers and stirring historical reenactment speeches by Abigail Adams’ (played by Alisa Dupuy of New Town Pa) expressing her opposition to slavery and belief in women’s education and George Washington (portrayed by Sam Davis of Trenton NJ) with his reflective homage to his mother and her indelible influence on American history.
